Public Service Announcement
Oct. 4th, 2003 12:23 pm(note: this is directed at one particular person, but others should know...)
If you want to get ahold of me, DO NOT CALL MY CELLPHONE unless you know I am not home. It is turned off most of the time, and I *don't* check the messages regularly. When I am at home (as I am about 80% of the time), the reception in this area is bad enough that even if the phone is turned on, calls are not likely to get through.
Especially DO NOT CALL MY CELLPHONE with time-urgent matters (and especially when I have already told you *at least* 3 times not to call my cellphone! And don't give me a lame excuse that you KNOW does not apply to me, like "Well, a lot of people are giving up their landlines these days.")
Thank you for your attention; now back to your regularly scheduled rainy Saturday...

Date: 2003-10-04 11:31 am (UTC)And even when Ann is not home, her cell phone is usually not turned on (it's primarily for outgoing calls only) or left at home.
"Well, a lot of people are giving up their landlines these days."
I have no intention of dropping the landline for our house because:
a) I want a phone line that works without batteries (we get occasional power outages (especially the first time the roads get icy)).
b) I use the landline to send and receive faxes from my computer.
b) Occasionally Mediaone/ATTBI/Comcast/... screws up and I'll use the landline for connectivity.

Date: 2003-10-06 06:31 am (UTC)Landline is essential, especially when Verizon(in our case) bugs up the DSL
It's also essential since it's easier to FIND the damn phone! ;-D
