So I finally made it to see a podiatrist about the huge wart on the ball of my left foot. First of all, he says it is a "cluster wart" -- probably hundreds of warts. Second, because it has not responded to any of the standard treatments (burning, freezing, acid plasters, even duct tape!), he's having me treat it with formaldehyde for 3 weeks. It's a last-resort treatment, because it's highly toxic, but he says he's seen funny things happen with it.

If that doesn't work, I either just live with it, or have surgery, which would result in a ~2 inch diameter divot in the bottom of my foot, that probably would heal fine *eventually*. ARgh.

Argh, I have one of those, too! I just had it frozen the other week, and I'll be going in again in a couple of weeks to have it scraped down and refrozen. That fucking hurts. I can't believe how tenacious those little buggers are!

I had a wart on my back that the doctor sliced off in what I thought was an office visit and ended up being called "surgery". Messed more with my brain than with my wart. Took a total of about 3 minutes. I didn't feel a thing. But my brain was fried for the rest of the day. Don't remember what topical anathestic was used since my brain turned into mush as the whole thing was commencing. Healed up just fine.

oh, I've had stuff like that done too. But this is different, because it is directly on the weight-bearing part of my foot, and it's huge, and it would have a pretty significant healing time.
