I've discovered the joy of French bras. As in, $50-$100 each, _well-constructed and supportive_ beautiful French lingerie bras.
Though I am not especially large chested (36B or C), I do require a bit more support than most ordinary bras offer, because I am not 20 and my smallish breasts are migrating south... Most of the bras I find in my size are very flimsy, or padded/molded cup (ewwww). And "support" bras are either (a) ugly or (b) don't come in my size, or both.
So I wandered into Saks 5th Avenue a few days ago, and found that they have several lines of bras that are supportive _and_ lovely. Wacoal is the least expensive (at $30-$50) -- and often shows up at Filene's Basement at Downtown Crossing for much lower prices. They also have Natori. But the ones I found are from Aubade and Chantelle, and are made in France. The Aubade bra is white cotton and looks a little flimsy, but is not. The Chantelle is more modest, and a beautiful sea=green lace. $138 for two bras... eep!
(I also got the matching thong with the Aubade bra, and I am sure that certain people will appreciate it :)

I'm glad, however, that you were able to find some good support for yourself!

Date: 2002-08-01 08:28 pm (UTC)OTOH, my weight has fluctuated between 120 and 175 pounds since I started wearing a bra, and for all but the very lowest and highest weights, my band size has always been 36. Cup size was B, until recently. pooh on getting old! I am one of those women who really wanted to end up with an A cup...
Best of luck... search the net... if nothing else you will find a lot of very silly lingerie sites.
