well, bite us
Jan. 1st, 2004 04:51 pmSo... with the impending job, I got back in touch with David the carpenter from Vermont (who was at our wedding, and has done fabulous work on Ben's house), because if I have a job, we can use ben's money to do the long-awaited renovations to the kitchen and bathrooms.
I got an email back from his wife (they share an email account). On Tuesday, David sliced the very tips off 4 of the fingers on his right hand while using his table saw! argh! The bones and joints are undamaged, and he has sensation in his fingers, so it's not *really* bad news. He's on painkillers and not able to do any work for at least 3 weeks... We are hoping that he'll view working for us (as opposed to some general contractor) as a way to ease back into things.

Anyway, I hope David makes a full and speedy recovery.

Date: 2004-01-04 05:59 pm (UTC)One of my sisters slammed her finger in the hinge of a door once, and the finger tip was hanging on by little more than a thread of skin. That was nasty, and we ended up going to three emergency rooms before it was stitched together.
And then there was the time I took a couple swipes at my left hand with a hack saw. I was sawing wood, my mind wandered and before I realized it I'd taken a couple slices at my hand.
Still have some scars, but they're faint.
