shop til you drop
Nov. 25th, 2003 08:41 pmJust got back from the outlet malls at Kittery, ME... I went up there with infinitely cool Karen K. for a day of "retail therapy." Lots of wonderful finds -- especially sweaters....
Big bulky sweater from Jones New York:

The most amazing blue softness from Eddie Bauer:

More Eddie Bauer:

Ralph Lauren candy, with matching hat:

More Ralph Lauren candy (the matching blue carpet background kind of ruins it...)

Don't bother hassling me about outlet mall pricing; I already know all the tricks they play to make you think you're getting a great bargain when you might not be. I like outlet mall shopping because each store carries a particular brand of merchandise (so I know in advance whether it's worth checking out or not). There are fewer people (especially on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving!) and the shops are not in an enclosed, echo-ey, crowded building. And most of the prices were quite good.
We had lunch at Warren's seafood which is right down by the water in Kittery proper. We didn't eat seafood; we had their excellent salad bar and rolls.
By about 6 p.m., we were both dead tired. Karen wanted "Breakfast for Dinner", and I managed to find the Friendly Toast in Portsmouth, which was completely yummy, although the service completely sucked.

Date: 2003-11-25 08:07 pm (UTC)While I'm not into turtlenecks, i LOVE the striped RL top... so cute!
I love outlet shopping (well, ok, I love ANY shopping...), although it's changed a lot over the years. But, hey, that's ok. And, I always figure "how much is this worth to me?" Doesn't matter if they claim it's been marked down 85% to 25 bucks... if I wouldn't pay 25 bucks for it elsewhere, I won't pay that there. You just have to know what you want and what it's worth to you.
Sounds like you had a good time!
