more job stuff
Oct. 31st, 2003 03:08 pmOK, so I did not get the job in the Nutrition department at HSPH, but I was their second choice. The first choice was someone who had worked with them before, and had lost his grant money -- so it makes sense to give it to him.
I've applied for another job at UMass Medical Center in Worcester; this would be a shorter commute than going to Boston, but a driving commute as opposed to a train commute. I'd need to get much more Zen about driving in Massachusetts (I like driving, but not when the roads are full of aggressive nutjobs!) We'll see what happens...
And just today heard from someone at Beth Israel's ER department who is looking for a statistician.
And got a call from a recruiter, for some big pharma job... ew! However, if the academic/medical center jobs continue to be so sparse, I may have to sell my soul for a couple of years, just to get experience. I'll call him back on Monday.

Date: 2003-10-31 01:49 pm (UTC)Boston takes 5 minutes to drive to the train station, then 45 minutes by commuter rail, and then whatever T-age is necessary, 20-30 minutes to get to the Longwood area (which is where I'd likely be working) depending on how much traffic there is. So the time is much longer, but the stress level is much lower. I can read or crochet or sleep or whatever on the commuter rail, but not if I am driving.
