more fires update

quietannI talked to my brother this evening. Yes, he went surfing at the foot of Tourmaline Street in PB :) The waves were great and the sea was uncrowded because people are not travelling because of the fires. He said that air quality at the beach was fine.
He's still a bit freaked out by the whole thing, though. He was too young in 1970 to remember the Laguna fire. This one (the Cedar fire, started by a &*%(*$*&^ hunter) did get within 7 miles of Pacific Beach, though. If the winds had not shifted... no, I don't want to think about that!
He has another day off tomorrow, and plans to surf more...
