public, private, and livejournal

I am also struggling a bit with how much to say here, especially how direct to be about various psychodramas and the persons involved (which sometimes includes me, but mostly not). LJ seems more "permanent" and public than a bitch/gossip session and thus potentially more hurtful. On the other hand, I would hate to find out that how people treat me -- or anyone else -- publically is vastly different from how they feel about them privately.
I find myself making oblique references to things that are going on, hoping that the people involved will "get" -- or sometimes _not_ get -- what I am saying. It feels "polite" to do so, yet I'm fairly sure that most of the people reading my comments know exactly what I am talking about. I would like to be able to say, "I am upset with so-and-so because they did X." rather than weasel-wording so much
