first raspberry!

deguspice and I enjoyed the first raspberry off the new plants today! It was a bit tart, mostly because I *just couldn't wait any longer* to pick it :) but tasty anyway.

In a couple of years, we should have a deluge. This year, well, the KK186 plants each have about 5-10 berries, and the Encore has about 5. It's too early to tell about the Carolines yet, though only two of the four Caroline plants even survived.

Well, these are new plants that didn't get planted until April, so they are probably a bit confused :) Also, the Killarneys, which are supposed to be the "early" ones, didn't make any berries at all this year.

So am I crazy to want to plant some black raspberries next spring?
