The subject line says it all. I got my loaner pump this morning, got it all set up and now realize just how non-functional the old one was. The past three days of bouncing blood glucose, spilling ketones etc. have wiped. me. out.

Hence no ponies :( I am scheduled to go see [livejournal.com profile] goddessfarmer and ride Trump on Monday. Minnie is also having her treatment that day, yay!

ETA: The drama with Raspberry Kid is all worked out. He'd picked berries -- with my permission *and* his mother's supervision -- at our summer party, and didn't understand that he did not have blanket permission to pick. He's only 7, so this isn't surprising. I am relieved that this was not a deliberate lie. Still I am unhappy that he picked all the unripe berries, but he's young enough that he needed some adult to tell him not to pick them. In the future I will be more clear about this, and require adult supervision. Very important because we may well have raspberries in the empty bed between the barn and the deck next year.

Feel better!

I'm glad the raspberry saga is worked out, and that there's a solution.

May Joshua and I come with you on Monday?

Thank you!

I suspect that this Monday won't be that good, though, because [livejournal.com profile] goddessfarmer's covering for the barn manager, and she has to leave by noon or so to take Minnie to the vet (which means I won't be spending any time with Minnie, either.)

The following Monday, she may bring Minnie up to the Hill for me to ride, and I will definitely have more time.

The following Monday, I'll be in NYC, and hopefully after *that*, I'll be working full-time. Oh well. At some point we'll manage this. :)

I know how having my blood sugar just a bit out of wack mkaes me feel- what you're describing sounds awful. Glad it's better now.

Yes, much better now.

Trust me, a BG of 472 sucks. Several that high over the course of a few days... well, all one wants to do is hide.

Ouch. It makes my complaint about going a bit low after a 5 kilometer race seem like whining.

Do you get significant vision changes when you go that high and then come crashing back down? Are you on restricted physical activity when it gets high?

I don't actually notice much effect on my vision; it's the nausea and sheer tiredness that gets me. I certainly wouldn't ride if my BG was that high, but in general I just keep doing whatever needs doing, albeit at a slow pace. I worked both Tuesday and Wednesday, when things were really bad.

I go low, too. And don't detect it that well, which is common in people who've had Type 1 diabetes for a long time; the whole adrenaline response to a low BG wears out after it's been hit repeatedly. I used to be able to detect a 70; these days I have to be under 50 to really notice that there is a problem. This is getting into dangerous territory, which is why I am trying to get a continuous BG monitoring system with my next pump. These systems are brand new and not covered by most health insurance, though...

/yawns, needs to sleep now. good-night!
