I'm OK. I have had a fairly social weekend, with small parties yesterday and today, nice people and good food. [livejournal.com profile] donnad makes Tandoori chicken to die for... cooked on the grill and melted like butter in my mouth. Yum! I also reconfirmed that if I am not well-rested, crowded and noisy rooms really do get to me.

I missed another small party on Friday evening and really regret it.

Tomorrow I get up early (for me) and go ride Trumpie over some jumps! I will have an apple for Minnie; I don't want her to forget me.

Finally,

These photos are from Friday, when the babies were just over a week old. There are two litters.

From BN D'Orion and ANR Sarri Song (15, though the little runt is not doing too well...)

From BN D'Orion and ANR Clownface, who once again failed to reproduce her astonishing markings (that's her in my user icon.) 12 babies:

NAKED RAT BABIES!

I find rat babies so much weirder than mouse babies. They're rodents! But giant! As big as full-grown mice! I'm not at all puzzled by adult rats being big, but the babies crack me up.

Is that a big stack of smeezes out of Clown Face? Laurie will love you! Or is it just funny lighting? Some really nice markings in both litters.. I see the wee runty. I'm pullin' for him (her?).

I have a huge stack of 'meezers here, and as they get older they are really getting darker. A couple of Sarri's are so dark that they look like Burmese! I have a couple of breeders interested; it's become so desperate for Siamese breeders around here that they will take my little Berky ones.

Little runt is still with us. I tried pulling some of the bigger babies out of Sarri's nest temporarily so he'd have a chance to nurse, but she gets really, really upset and I don't want her to reject them all. He's about the size of a 3 day old baby now, even though he's 10 days old :(

Yay for babies! It's weird not having any little babies or pairs together here.. the last of the babies from the last litters have been leaving over the weekend to boot. I've got some pairs I'm aching to put together but it ain't happening until after the birth and I get a sense of what kind of time schedule me and the baby have together, aka is he gonna be a sleeper or a up all the time cryer. ;)

Too bad Clownface didn't reproduce any similar markings.. she's so darling.

I hope you get a sleeper! (That's what I was; I slept through the night by the time I was 6 weeks old. When my parents adopted my brother 4 years later, they were in for a big surprise. He was a screamer; he was colicky and gassy and got sick a lot during his first year.)

I now have Clownface offspring from two different fathers, and while I don't usually do close inbreedings, I may make an exception in this case.

I really hope I get a sleeper too. I'm told a was a good baby, but my brother was horrid. Either way the MOMS (my own and Tommy's) will be hovering plenty to help so I can take care of my critters and keep my sanity whilst I adjust.

I think you should make an exception. ;) I started doing a lot of inbreeding/linebreeding for marking improvement, then again I do it anyway once I've decided a line is worth it.
