OK, I have been obsessively following the weather radar ever since we heard there might be a storm this weekend. It really looked like it would be rain at the worst, and probably nothing up where we live. The drive to Lunacon seemed more iffy, but even that...

OK, I just checked again, and *now* I believe it. In the past 2 hours, the small strip of snow has become a Big Blob of Snow that will spread all over New England within a few hours. Ben and I still intend to come to Lunacon, but if it's snowing heavily at 2:00 when we plan to leave, I may veto it. It creates some problem for me, since one of the reasons I'm going is to hand off two rats to a breeder down there. Sigh...

I'm hearing forecasts of 1 foot of snow Down East.

EVERYBODY PANIC

The problem is that it's nigh impossible to get any kind of reliable weather forecast when it comes to these winter storms. The Boston weatherliars are so into "OMG EVERYBODY PANIC" and predicting worst-case scenarios, that it's like "the boy who cried 'Wolf!'".

There oughta be a statute of limitations on their f*ckup with the Blizzard of '78. That's 29 years old at this point, and I'd wager most of the people now living in the Boston area don't even remember it any more--weren't born yet, too young, or moved here from elsewhere.

Last night at around 10:30 when I spoke with my brother (Northern NJ, just south of highway 80) they said it had been snowing for about an hour already, and were expecting a lot.

So, they've declared another French Toast Emergency?

At this point it is still lightly snowing at Lunacon but there hasn't been a lot of accumlation. I hope you decide to come. Perhaps you could wait until Saturday morning when conditions should be better; oh wait - Ben is involved - does his Saturday even have a morning? ;) But, please drive safely.

We decided to bail on Lunacon. A 5-6 hour drive in the rain/sleet/snow just sounded unappealing. I really wanted to go, too. :(
