in case anyone is wondering
Dec. 21st, 2006 07:28 amI am in California for the next week. It is a working vacation, but that's OK. I am up so f*cking early because of a Botswana conference call, which is now over but because I had some coffee beforehand, I won't be able to go back to sleep for a while. I am *hoping* that my father does not call before I go back to sleep.
My friends at Fox Car Rentals deserve kudos for working without electricity (except for lights powered by generators), computers, or phone service and still managing to get renters slotted into cars. There was/is a power outage in a several-square-block area where almost all the car rental places andd airport parking garages in San Diego are located. They are all very sweet hispanic guys. I like them, and Fox is the least expensive as long as one plays by their rules. I ended up with a PT Cruiser with 131 miles on it. Not my type of car, normally, and way too big for one person, but that's OK.
My hosts, Dave and Stella (who some of you have met at Worldcons), have a new kitten, an 8 month old tabby with a squeaky voice and a big purr.
