looking for a particular reader

My very favorite author, Lois McMaster Bujold, has a new book out. It's called The Sharing Knife: Beguilement. It's getting a little grief for being either too much fantasy or too much romance, depending on where one's reading tastes lie.

Lois is looking for someone who's more on the romance side of things, who has never read her books before, to read it. Specifically, here's what she wants:

"Y'know...

I'd be very interested in reader feedback from someone who read The Sharing Knife: Beguilement who 1) has never read a prior Bujold book to create any particular warring expectations 2) is primarily a romance reader and, for an extra bonus, 3) caught the fact that it's vol. 1, possibly from such subtle clues as, say, the fact that it says "Volume One" on the dust jacket and title, and so is not artificially disconcerted when the break point at the end of the volume is not the end of the story."

I pretty much fit the qualifications. I'm not an avid romance reader, but I've surely read much more romance than fantasy. Mostly in the form of Diana Gabaldon's books. Let me know if you'd like me to read it, I'd be happy to ;)

I meet those qualifications. And I'm someone with an indergrad degree in writing so I can also give very well targetted feedback. I haven't read a ton of romance novels, but I've gotten my share as brain-candy when I needed a break from reading other stuff. And I haven't gotten previous exposure to Bujold's stuff because I haven't had time to pick up and get addicted to a new series because I knew I'd hate it if I like the series and couldn't read them all back to back because I was too busy.
