OK. I'm 39. And I have a cold, so I missed my only applied class *again* today (so far I have made it to 4 1/2 of 7 classes). I have midterms next week, and studying is *hard* when one is feeling like the classes are way out of one's league.

(and they really are. One professor has been very nice about it, and got permission for me to take his class Pass-Fail, with the understanding that all I have to do is come to class, do the homeworks to the bext of my ability, and take -- but not necessarily pass -- the exams. The other professor is pissed off about having someone "unqualified" in the class, though to be perfectly honest I'm not doing much worse than some of the other students, because she's very tough. I could have had the class waived, but I didn't know that, so if I want to graduate this semester, I'm stuck with it. I did go to talk to her about it, but before I could get more than a few words in, she launched into this tirade about how she couldn't make the class easier just for me -- which is not what I wanted -- and she didn't have time to give me any extra help "which you shouldn't need anyway." Argh. It's her first time teaching the class, and rather than build off the notes from the previous professor -- who "got it right" by the 3rd year he taught the course -- she is starting from scratch and doing it her own way. And making a lot of errors along the way. grumble.)

And there's the job search (not much to report there), and wanting to sleep all the time, and not enough time for anything... grumble.

I very much hope things feel better soon. Happy birthday! Birthdays are a time to celebrate one's existence, and I'm glad you exist. :)

Don't think of bad things happening in the new year of your life, it's bad things that happened last year, and look optimistically at it: they will END this year and you will graduate!

happy bday!
