I am cautiously optimistic about the political situation now. To some degree, the Dems have a no-win situation here, but I hope they can get through it. Last night reminded me of watching Clinton win in 1992; I was with friends and we were joyful, teary-eyed, ecstatic.

Snark OTD: Because of how Andover does its voting, I can get quick glances of party affiliations by street in my election district. Most voters here seem to be unaffiliated, but there are a few more registered Democrats than registered Republicans. There's a new subdivision in a cul-de-sac down the street from us that is 7 or 8 ostentatiously ugly, expensive ($1M plus) McMansions. Most of the voters there are registered Republicans, which makes me think even more evidence that they have no taste!

At least they are voting in their own class interests, unlike the Rush Limbaugh Republicans.

Well, that is true. One strange thing about living in Massachusetts is that there are very few Rush Limbaugh Republicans here. They've stayed Democrat, though they've been somewhat alienated by the party's liberalism. (A fair number of the folks who don't support gay marriage here are actually working class Catholic Democrats.)
