Dr. Becky called yesterday. She'd done throat cultures on 3 of my rats, and 2 of the 3 have drug-resistant staph. Ouch.

Echinacea/goldenseal tincture helps the symptoms. I put it in their water, and they like the taste.

They are mostly just slightly sneezy. Mostly fine otehrwise, but every once in a while one gets sick in a way that I would call "flu-like" -- the ruffled fur and just sitting there being very quiet and not curious, and not too interested in eating. About half the ones who get sick this way die, and the other half more or less recover...
