So, I had to drive in to work today because of getting Neko. It took, I kid you not, 2 1/2 hours to get from Andover to work.

What I have done here is mapped out a timeline. Plain text is where I was this morning; italics text is where I would be on a normal workday.

6:30 Waking up; asleep
6:45 In the shower; still asleep
7:00 Medicating a rat; still asleep
7:15 On I-93 somewhere between exit 43 and 42; still asleep
7:30 On I-93 somewhere between exits 42 and 41; waking up
7:45 On I-93 around exit 41; in the shower
8:00 On I-93 around exit 38; medicating a rat
8:15 On I-93 just past Rt. 128; leaving home
8:30 On I-93 somewhere near Medford; just exiting I-93 at exit 37C for the Anderson-Woburn train station
8:45 Somewhere near Kendall Square; getting on the train
9:00 On Comm Ave after being diverted (no traffic could cross Comm Ave at BU; the lights were not working); on the train somewhere in Somerville
9:15 In Brookline approaching the Longwood Medical Area; at the North Station T stop waiting for the Green or Orange lines
9:30 Walking from Childrens Hospital parking garage to work; on the T
9:45 At my desk; At my desk

OK, admittedly this was a hellish commute, but there is a reason I prefer to use public transit. Plus my right leg is sore from hip to ankle from riding the gas pedal, and my right arm is sore from shoulder to wrist from using the shifter. And I'm going to pay $25 for parking, too.

Damn, what a morning. I sympathize with the driving thing, and feel your "shifting for hours in traffic" pain. I won't drive in the Boston area (and absolutely not Boston proper) unless I have no other options. I'll drive as far as Braintree or Forest Hills, depending on where I'm going, and jump the T.

hm, this implies that you are local, or at least local-ish (on the South Shore). I now wonder if we have met IRL, and if that if so, whether it should be incredibly obvious to me who you actually are :)

It's possible, though I currently live in CT, and if we've met IRL I don't know it either. :-)

I grew up on the South Shore, Catholic schools K-12 (9-12 was all girls), attended UMass-Boston, even worked there for awhile, and lived in Roslindale for a few years after I got married. My folks still live on the South Shore, and my in-laws are still in Rozzy, so we're up that way fairly often for family stuff. And most of the New England bellydance scene seems to happen in MA, a lot of it in Cambridge, which is my most frequent reason for T-ing it in to there. Or driving on a few unfortunate occasions that I didn't leave enough time. Dunno if any of that sounds like we might've crossed paths or not, but that's the nutshell of where we could have.

If you're into belly dancing, do you know Dr. Karen?

I don't think so, though if she dances under a different name it's possible I know of her.
