On the other hand, the rats are cute and cuddly and bound to improve my mood. There is nothing like holding a small, soft creature who doesn't care that you're neurotic and bitchy and feeling doomed. Thank heavens for rats like Zaltz.

He's that kind of rat. He likes to explore the kitchen, too, and can usually be trusted to go back home without getting into trouble.

The rats are *always* who I go to when I'm having a shitty time of things. they never, ever fail to cheer me up. makes it all the harder that they've all been farmed out while the house is on the market.. I feel entirely nekkid without them and bawled like an idiot when I dropped the last cage off.

Having just started reading your LJ in the past couple of weeks, I suspect we are hard-wired rather similarly WRT social stuff, exclusion, etc. Sigh...

Why sigh? I may be a good resource for a reality check (and vice versa) when the bad feelings start attacking... Goodness knows, I am too much of a solipsist, and my dear husband (often abbreviated DH) has often been a sounding board when I get too down.
