quietannWe have baby rats! A lot of them... all born on Mother's Day.
Stormy was first, during the night. She has 8 huge healthy babies and is also fostering some baby mice that a friend found while helping us clean the yard (their habitat had been torn apart by that point so I doubt mama mouse would have come back for them.) Stormy took on the mice with no problems... I just dumped them into her nest and she started cleaning them. They are about a week old.
Silly Sister popped yesterday morning. SIXTEEN babies. Hers are about half the size of Stormy's. She's doing great with them, but I will foster the smallest ones with Wisteria.
Wisteria had a number of babies last night. There are 5 live ones and 2 or 3 dead ones that she hasn't disposed of (eaten) yet.
All of the girls are great moms. I have held Stormy's and Silly Sister's babies already.
