My inlaws have a new puppy, a Komondor. When she grows up she will get dreadlocks! Elinor (my MIL) reports that she's a very mellow puppy who already will come to her when called. I will get to meet her in a few weeks.
Komondors were the coolest thing at the televised dog show, like a decade ago, but they'd have to be your only hobby to deal with the hair maintenance.
This is actually my MIL's third Komondor. It's been maybe 20 years since the last one; now that the in-laws are happily retired to their farm in Vermont, and thinking about getting some sheep, it only seemed appropriate to get a sheep-guarding dog :)
This Sonia has sort of secretly been growing dreads on the underside of her waist-length hair where we couldn't see them. I bet the puppy looks cuter. ;)
