My turn on the haircut question
Oct. 28th, 2005 12:11 pmI think I'd like to get an actual haircut, or at least a split-ends trim that I can rely on.
My requirements:
Don't bother recommending the guys in Harvard Square;
kimberlogic's hair is very similar to mine (but longer), and one of those guys butchered her hair and then denied he had done anything wrong.
My requirements:
- My hair must stay long (at least shoulder length) and ponytail-able.
- Whatever I end up with needs to not require styling products like mousse or gel to look good, because of allergy issues, and my hair does not like those products at all. Also no curling irons or blow-drying. A "Wash-n-wear" hairstyle is what I'd like.
- Stylist must not push me to color my hair "professionally" (I use henna, and am happy with that), go for a short haircut, or one with bangs (My hair is curly. Bangs just don't work on me.)

Back when I was getting irregular trims on my longer hair, I tried them out and they were actually quite good. As the woman pointed out to me, she does dozens of cuts a day -- the fancy place only does a handful. Don't go there for a style, of course, but for a basic cut, they're fine.

Date: 2005-10-28 05:50 pm (UTC)yeah, i am not particularly skillful or anything, but i have evened out the ends/trimmed some friends' hair, and at the very least i know not to traumatize people with long hair or cut more than is needed...
