late night...
Oct. 27th, 2005 12:58 amI really need to go to sleep, but I have Myrtle in my lap and she'll be upset with me when I evict her...
Feeling somewhat bad about a purchase I have made -- a winter coat from LL Bean. It's $119 -- not bad for a coat rated down to -15 degrees F. But theoretically, I already have a winter coat. Except, I washed it rather than having it dry cleaned (it said it was washable) and that essentially ruined it from a looks, if not warmth, point of view. It was more expensive than the LL Bean one. Yet still... if it's still warm, why should I get another coat just because the one I have looks bad? Argh!

Date: 2005-10-27 12:01 pm (UTC)The great thing about LL Bean is that if the item gets damaged or destroyed, they'll give you another same or similar item for free to replace it. This makes the cost of the item all the more worth it. We have used this service. G bought a nice wool sweater from them, her got some holes in it. Working on a computer or somthing it got snagged and tore. We had no reciept, we walked in the store showed it to them, expecting them to say they couldn't help us because it wasn't everyday wear and tear type damage. They took it back, handed him a voucher for something like $40. and said Thank you very much. We ended up getting him another sweater and two shirts.
The other thing about LLBean is they usually have really good quality merchandise that does last a long time with normal use.

Date: 2005-10-27 01:52 pm (UTC)(Though my real concern is the lack of hood when the snow comes... I have an assortment of winter jackets collected over the years and I wish I could somehow pair it down to one or two that would work for all situations.)
