There was a cute article in today's Boston Globe about giant pumpkins and the people who raise them. They interviewed the guy who grew the 1,314 pound pumpkin that won the largest pumpkin prize at the Topsfield Fair. (The same guy also grew an 881.4 pound squash!) And he said that when the fair is over, he'll take his pumpkin home, chop it open, hollow it out, and take it on the Piscataqua River annual pumpkin boat float. I really thought that was a tall tale, especially since the article also said something about Martha Stewart paddling a pumpkin across a lake to raise money for charity.
