pink voyd!
Mar. 6th, 2004 11:56 pmBen and I went to see Pink Voyd's benefit show for Arlington High School tonight. We are friends with several people in the band and crew (mostly former FTP folks that Ben has known for ages), but hadn't seen a show since they played at Good Times Emporium in Somerville about 2 years ago. Ben and I both are huge Pink Floyd fans, so having friends who have a cover band is a good thing...
They were good to start with, and so much better now... the stage show, H*'s lighting, more video from Janet, and "introducing Karina" (our friend Karen, who was maid of honor at our wedding) singing all add a lot. Some high points:
-- Footage of various world leaders, including Dubya, for "Brain Damage." (they have been doing this for a while, but Janet has added a lot of new video here)
-- Karen chaperoning a bunch of high school girls dancing on stage during "Young Lust" (and we hope that their parents were not in the audience!)
-- Political commentary against the war from John, though I am not sure how many of the high school students got it.
-- Walter - who is one of the most crush-inducing men I have ever met - singing on top of the speaker tower during the encore ("Comfortably Numb")
and much more.... It was fabulous, you should try it sometime. www.pinkvoyd.com for more information.
