so I missed a party last night, one I really wanted to go to, especially after Ben told me who was there (all my favorite people, and only one person who gives me the heebie-jeebies -- though he doesn't know it, and mostly the Suburban Suspects, who really are my favorites, as a group).
The work network crashed at about 4, and I sat around, occasionally trying to log back in, until about 5:30. Since I'd committed to taking the 6:25 train, I decided to walk to North Station. It was pleasantly warm, but not hot. I stopped at Haymarket and bought cherries ($5 for a 2-pound bag, not bad, and they have turned out to be absolutely perfect). Somewhere between there and North Station, I started feeling icky. And several minutes after arriving at North Station, I threw up in a trash can. Bleargh.
So, thinking "dehydration" I bought a bottle of water and drank it slowly (because sometimes water will reactivate the vomiting). And got on the train.
marmota got on at West Medford; he'd left messages on my cell phone about getting a ride to the party, but my cellphone may still be in France. He let me borrow his phone to call Ben, and we agreed to meet at home so Ben could give him a ride to the party. While using the phone, I got a serious heavy sweat, and it got all over his phone, which was annoying and embarassing.
Eventually I got home, and got all embarassed again because
marmota is NOT someone I want to let see the house right now, especially with the 2 remaining super-stinky rat cages right by the door. I decided to nap for a little bit and go to the party later, but I never made it. I continued to feel a little nauseous, and didn't want to take the chance of spreading something contagious at a party, especially a party where there were at least 3 babies.
Today... still a little nauseous, but I am convinced that it is the heat.
