Myrtle update
May. 20th, 2005 10:57 amThe fluids are really helping her. She's fattenned up and her coat is getting nice again (except for the spots I clipped so I can see the sub-Q fluids needle going in). She's asleep on my lap right now.
But I have a problem. She needs a lot of babying, and Ben and I are going to be in France for almost 2 weeks in June. Not going to France is really not an option at this point. I don't want to board her at the vet but leaving her here with a once-a-day pet care person probably won't do. If nothing else, she needs to be fed small amounts several times a day. And there are the fluids.
So Myrtle needs to have a temporary home. She's a very sweet girl, has no litterbox issues, and likes to sleep in laps. (In fact she likes to sleep in general -- about 23 hours a day now.) She really needs to be kept from climbing stairs because it's so hard on her joints. She is NOT vaccinated (except for rabies) because she's a completely indoor cat and really too frail for a lot of the vaccines.
Any suggestions, offers etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Date: 2005-05-20 04:05 pm (UTC)I hope one of your other friends steps forward. If they don't and it's getting down to the wire, I'll rearrange something, not sure how yet, but something will occur to me.

Date: 2005-05-20 10:22 pm (UTC)When I got her, she adjusted to being here pretty quickly. She spent a lot of time on top of a big bookshelf (which she wouldn't be able to do now) but would come down for scritches. She went in with Spook after 5 days and he was more scared of her than she was of him. She's a "find the food and I'm fine" kind of cat.
If this works out I owe you big time!
I really didn't expect the fluids to help that much. Of course, she still could go downhill before we leave, in which case I would have her PTS. The idea of putting my beloved kitty to sleep just so I can go on vacation is just abhorrent to me...

Wish I could help you out, glad that it at least looks hopeful that Jim can.
