Yesterday, I finally had poor Spook shaved down. He was full of mats, and his fluffy butt... well, we won't go there. I am never ever having a longhaired cat again!

I started doing this back when I lived in an attic apartment in Waltham with no A/C. It greatly improved his summers. Now, there is A/C in the cat room, but Spook has always had a bad back and he doesn't groom himself well. Hence, the lion cut is a good (albeit silly) thing. It won't have to be redone until the end of the summer.

He's probably much happier during the summer and without the mats. I have considered doing that to Keisha since she gets so matted sometimes. We do trim the butt hair, but have never taken her to that extreme. He's cute...
