... because at one of my favorite large retailers, there are *no* winter clothes for babies, not even on the clearance racks. There are all kinds of cute rompers and little sundresses and T-shirts and shortalls. Even bathing suits. But a snuggly sweater? No. A pair of pants in anything heavier than lightweight knit? No. A little velour jumpsuit, like the one I gave Little Benjamin? You have got to be kidding! Who would want one of those, on the last day of January, in Massachusetts?

(BTW: I have completely, totally, fallen in love with Itty Bitty Clothes for small humans. Friends having babies just turns me into a huge old sap...)

I love Itty Bitty Clothes for small humans, too. And Itty Bitty Shoes for tiny feet! So cute!

Yup, must be spring, I was looking for a new pair of mittens recently and all I could find were swimsuits, and not even swimsuits I would consider wearing! :)

Oh, no! I am in big trouble. Now that Sophia is here, I find out that the vast majority of clothes I've received (either as hand-me-down from Bridget or gifts) are too big for her. Way, way too big. I'm washing and re-using the same couple of outfits over and over, but thought that we might shop for some new clothes now that I know what she needs. I hope the septic system can deal with continued super-frequent laundry.

And what about clothes for *me*? Most of my wardrobe is on sabbatical-- either on account of being inconvenient for nursing, or I'm still to fat to wear. I didn't shop for a new wardrobe for this phase 3 months ago, like the retailers expect, because well duh, I was shaped totally different then.

I'm planning to check the Marshall's in Downtown Crossing after class today. The last time I was in there (around May or so) they had a lot of leftover winter wear for babies. Hopefully we are not in the time in between when the regular stores de-stock their winter wear, and places like Marshall's get it...

So I take it she needs newborn size things?

Yup, newborn size. She's only about 7 pounds (the birth announcement was wrong, it should have said 7 lb 1 oz not 7 lb 14 oz).

I have outfits! Stuff off the clearance rack at TJ Maxx; none of it *too* girly... and nothing pink (though there were a couple of cute pink things that were tempting). Better get to you before she outgrows them...

Cool! C'mon over any time.

Yeah, sorry about that. I'm pretty sure that's what Rich told me she weighed (I even wrote it down and repeated it back to him).

Also, on clothes for you, I have quite a pile of things too small for me saved up, since I have not made it to the last 2 clothing swaps. My guess is that even post-pregnancy, you're smaller than I am... Some of it is even new (gifts from Ben's mom, mostly).

Hmm. Suitable for nursing, though? I need tops with quick and easy boob access. Shirts that button down in the front are great.

I might have somesuch things... but quick and easy boob access isn't something I specially look for...

Pants? Should I bring my flannel lined navy blue khakis? (definitely too small on me, size 10P from LL Bean, no "comfort waist...") Jeans?

Benjamin is on the verge of outgrowing some of the smallest things (and has already outgrown an almost full packet of newborn diapers.)

If you want to come over some time this week we could go through the stuff Benjamin has and send some home with you for Sophia. (Some of it is borrowed from various people and needs to ultimately be returned to them, but all of those are marked with the initials.)

That would be awesome. I suppose you could use the adult company too!

What are you specifically looking for? We may well have it. We have *a lot* of outgrown clothing kicking around here...

And the velour jumpsuit is a wonderful thing. Thank you again! :-)

He is wearing it right now, and it is probably the outfit I put on him most often.
