Kosher wines
Nov. 16th, 2004 02:53 pmSo, what are peoples' favorite Kosher wines? I was very pleased to find things other than the "sweet stuff" that various relatives had around when I was a kid.
Right now I am very pleased with Yarden's Mt. Hermon Red, which is a blend of their leftover reds. It retails for $10-11, much less than the other Yarden wines. There is a liquor shop owned by a Jew in my town, and he said that at his PAssover wine tasting, this wine held its own against much more expensive ones.

Oh, and watch out for anything marked "mevushal"; to make it kosher, it's boiled rather than prepared by jews on kosher equipment... not that I personally care about the kosher part really, but pasteurized wine has a noticeably different taste.
I can't stand the sweetened stuff either; I actually avoided wine for many years after leaving home because I thought that's all it was!
