QOTD: "Boston is a drinking town with a baseball problem." I'm sure that one's been around for years, but I'd never heard it before, and it's sooooo true.

Procrastination: I don't know if I am procrastinating, or preoccupied, or both. I am trying to work on Wednesday's lecture, but the current political situation just draws me in. It's scaring me half to death, as well. The Shrub is even showing up in my dreams... Last night, the Governator rescued me and a bunch of people from the Shrub. How weird is that?

It's really hard to hang in there emotionally until the election, I know. One more week to endure, then we'll see where we stand! I think, don't expect to feel normal in these last few days. I, personally, am totally off my rocker at this point.

yeah, I think this is at least part of why I have gotten sick so much this fall (three bad colds in short succession, when usually I get maybe one, plus digestive issues, depression, tiredness, you name it.)

I actually went for 3 hours last night without thinking about politics. That is probably the longest stretch in several weeks (not counting when I have been unconscious...)

Miss Rat had her kids on Monday, by the way. 15 of them! She's a great mommy; she spends most of her time on the nest with them nursing, and is very good about letting me handle them.

I don't know. I've heard kimberlogic make some mention of having people over that night, but I haven't seen any announcement or been invited. Also, some election-night party was announced on suspects, I don't remember who or where.

Cee is hosting the party at GLSE. It's private invite, and my guess, given how much you have been involved with various election events involving that household, is that you were overlooked. (shame on them, given that you are the MOST politically involved person among susboids in the presidential election, but... tell Laurie!)

Jon Libby, who lives somewhere near both of us (Chelmsford) is the host of the suspects party. He's more of a SCA person, though. I don't know him very well, but he seems OK.

I am really torn as to what to do. In a way I want to just go home from work and hide under the covers that evening; OTOH, it might be nice to be around people we know. GLSE would *probably* be my pick. If you want to go there, I could give you a ride home if you need it.

I was with people for the 1992 and 1996 election nights, which went "my way." It was pretty nice.

Oh, private-invite, huh? Forget it. I think I'll expand my social horizons rather than pester them.

Jon Libby... hmm... wasn't he Heidi Schmidt's housemate a few years back? He seemed nice.

Don't hide under the covers, being with a support group will do you good.

heh, on the first.

On the second... I don't think Jon was ever Heidi's housemate. He was married, and the marriage split up right after their first kid was born (gossip there, but I won't). AFAIK, he's lived with the woman he took up with when the marriage was falling apart ever since...

(And if that sounds horrible, I should say that he's a very involved dad, and in fact lives about 4 blocks from his ex-wife and the kid.)

Actually I think I'll go to one of the MoveOn phone parties Some of these go into the evening, leading into an evening of watching election returns. Or maybe I'll host my own. Hmm, must ponder this. I'm terrible at phone work, but this is supposed to be just calls to Kerry supporters, reminding them to vote-- relatively simple and non-confrontational.
