debate, and a friend
Oct. 9th, 2004 12:20 amOnce again I only listened to a few minutes of the debate. Shrub did a little better, but he still makes me cringe. Kerry doesn't make me cringe, but I wish he'd take the gloves off a bit more. However, Shrub's "I've got wood" comment was pricelessly funny. Surely he knows what "getting wood" means???
A Los Angeles talk radio station, KFI, had a group of (supposedly) undecided voters doing a round table afterwards. I listened to part of that, mostly because one of the guests, Reg, is a friend of mine from high school. He's now "leaning towards Bush" -- dammit!
But Reg is fairly conservative, especially for a Black guy. He has considered going into politics, but the Republican party as a whole makes him cringe, and the Democrats (especially the entrenched Black establishment Democrats in San Diego) are way too liberal for him.
It was still very cool to hear his voice, for the first time in about 20 years. He sounds almost exactly the same....
