so...

Monday, we went to Greenfield Village and (to a lesser degree) the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. GV is an "open air" museum. Ford basically collected bits and pieces of Americana, from an entire farm and whole buildings (including Edison's Menlo Park labs) to small things like china and even lunch boxes! Ben says Ford is his role model (as a collector, not a person... Ford was a leading anti-Semite and otherwise obnoxious in various ways). So we wandered from building to building, taking in a lot of artifacts from turn-of-the-19th/20th century America. The only drawbacks were (a) the heat and humidity (again), and (b) lots of kids since it was the end of the school year -- but this was less of an issue since things were so spread out.

At lunch, besides eating, we watched a young teenage girl consume a pickle in an amusing and disturbing (because of her age) fashion.

more later..
