It still hurts, but not as much. I am getting some muscle cramps from having to hold my toes up when I walk. That's much worse than the wound itself, as is the place on the top of my foot where the doctor injected local anesthetic.

When I had mine done, they gave me a thick pad to put in my shoe with a hole cut in it where the wound was so that the wounded area couldn't touch the ground. They also had me walking on crutches for a few days. Where on your foot was yours? it seems like you ought to have been given more foot protection.

I was just going to suggest that she cut the front off an old shoe and use that. They also make them that you can buy in medical supply places. You might get your doc to arrange for it so your insurance pays for it.

It's on the ball of my left foot, just below the leftmost 3 toes. There are two divots actually; one about 3/4 inch and another about 1 1/4 inch. And looking at it last night, I am afraid there is still wart there...

hm. This might have been a good idea. The doctor just told me to "stay off it as much as possible" -- which I am doing, but it's still pretty frustrating. He really was vague about wound care, especially for someone who specializes in treating diabetics.

I'd definitely have to get a special shoe; because of the way my toes are constructed, I would not have room for anything but toes in the end of my shoe...
