so, I got my grades for spring... not great, but much better than they could have been. My semester GPA was 3.4, up from 2.7 in the fall.

I still feel like my mind is much less sharp than it used to be, and I'm less motivated to study than I was when I was in my 20s (having a life outside of school will do that to a person...)

A 3.4 is a low A, and completely respectable. Congratulations on the improvement in grades.

yup

It was much easier to focus when everyone I knew was on or near campus, also studying a lot.

I guess what bothers me is that my worst grades (B- and B+) were in my most important stats classes. Those have the stuff I really need to know.

I had an interesting email conversation with the professor from the B+ class at the end of the semester. She was very kind and encouraging. Said I asked the best questions in class (I do!)

The other prof... very odd. He's gay, and generally sweet. He was very flattered that I noticed his ties (especially the ones made with Liberty of London cotton lawn... gorgeous soft cotton that sells for $30/yard or more...) . On the first day of class, he talked about consulting with Fenway Health Center on some of their surveys, especially one about orientation-based harassment. At the very end of the semester (after grades were in I think) I told him about my experiences at Bentley (by email) and he's been silent ever since. Other students in the class complained that he was "obsessed with sex" because of some of the examples he used. And said other unkind things about him because he is openly gay. Twits! But I guess we can say he's a fair grader, because I got the lowest grade in the class :
