This was 2 days ago, so they are even cuter now. Eyes should start opening this weekend.
The tan ones are probably tricksters; they are (I think) genetically Siamese, so over time their markings will fade and they will be more or less cream colored with darker "points" wherever they don't have white markings. The tannish girl in the second photo is actually a fairly good Siamese except for the white toes. I don't actually *want* the Siamese gene in my lines, but it's there. Eva came from another breeder; her father was a Siamese but I wanted her for breeding because she was inbred to some of my older bloodlines. The boy with the stripe is actually one of Jasmine's, and I was *really* surprised to have Siamese pop up in that litter.
Yep, definitely look more Siamese now than Beige..
I've got another "batch" of litters on the way too.. prolly a whole lotta black marked cause there's not too many common recessives involved.. but the point is to get them to carry them all. ;)
I like the half-and-half rats. Sonoma county has cows that are striped in three big bands, black, then white, then black. It's kinda weird the first time you see them. Up where my folks now live, cows are striped the opposite way, white, then black, then white. And that's really weird.
awwwwww
