My major task at work for early next week will be modifying Splus programs. Actually, I am modifying one program, because if I can get one fixed, I will know how to fix the rest. But Splus is just bizarre. It is sort of like trying to speak English with some major class of words rendered unavailable, like adjectives. Or it is nothing but nouns and verbs.

If only nouns and verbs are allowed, I think the above reads something like this, but I have not diagrammed a sentence or otherwise studied grammar since 9th grade:

My task will be modifying programs. I am modifying program. Splus is bizarre. It is trying to speak English. It is nothing.

I haven't used S+ much but I have used R a lot ( R = open-source version of S+) -- if you're used to languages like C, Java, etc then S+ will seem very unintuitive - actually it is very unintuitive but if you've used Matlab it's not too bad.
