I have said it before, but apparently ***someone*** didn't hear me, and it's not such a bad thing to let the rest of you know, so....

If you need to call me on the phone, DON'T treat my cellphone like my default phone. ALWAYS call my home phone first, unless you KNOW that I am not at home.

No exceptions. Yes, "some people" are giving up their landlines and going all-cell-all-the-time. Yes, "some people" think that's the modern and kewl thing to do. I am NOT one of them. (Nor is my husband.)

We live in a semi-rural area. The cell coverage where we live sucks. It's quite likely that if you call my cellphone when I am at home, the phone won't even ring, and if it does, I probably won't hear it, because the phone lives in its charger when I am at home.

I reserve the right to ignore calls that come in on my cellphone when I am at home, and to not feel guilty about the consequences.

Doesn't that overcharge & shorten the life of the battery?

I'm probably not the one you're ranting about, but just in case...

I left you a message on your cellphone last week, but I called your home # first with no answer. I know you prefer landline, although on a saturday night (especially one with multiple known social events) it's not unreasonable to assume someone is out and about and therefore try cell phone numbers first. I left a message on your cell phone but not home phone as my question was time-limited and therefore wouldn't have mattered if you were out and didn't get it until you got home.

I reserve the right to ignore calls that come in on my cellphone when I am at home, and to not feel guilty about the consequences.

Hey, sometimes I feel that way too and I don't have a landline. I check the caller ID and see if I feel like answering. If not, then it's what voicemail is for; if it wasn't important enough to leave a message, it wasn't important enough to answer anyway. So, I'll check the message, and see if I feel like calling back.

My phone is for my convenience, not anyone else's, and I'll answer it when I feel like it and ignore it when I feel like it.

Some people are just so rude about their phones, or the expectations on how other people should deal with their phones. Phones drive me up the wall! :)

I've had the same phone for 3 years, and no problems so far.

How often do you have to replace the phone's battery?

Never, so far.

I completely sympathize, as the signal at our house is vague at best. I often have calls end because I turned my chair 180 degrees. And in my case, the cell phone is my business phone, so I prefer to talk to folk on the landline and leave that one free.
In general, though, I prefer email.

Amazing; we have to replace ours every year or two.
