she's lost her purr!

So... I slept with Myrtle and Spook last night. Ben's futon (soon to be replaced by a real mattress) is too hard on my shoulders and hips. My futon, when opened, is considerably softer and more comfortable, so that's where I am sleeping, for now.

Myrtle snuggled up to me as usual and was ecstatic about being rubbed and petted and cuddled. One could tell just by her body language. But she did not purr. At all. I tried all of her favorite rubs, and she *looked* like she was purring, but there was no vibration and no sound.

So her purr is broken. I find this to be very sad....

awww... poor kitty. She *is* a darling to sleep with, though :) Give her some extra skritchies for me!

I'm sleeping with her until Thursday night, when we should have the new mattress.

BTW... any chance you'd be available to take her in again in late August and early September?

I'd be delighted to have her again! She might start to think of this as a second home :) It'll be interesting to see how long it takes her to remember where everything is...

Please let me know as early as possible when you have exact dates...

Actually I already do; I was just being vague out of habit. I leave August 25 and return on September 7. Ben is leaving a couple of days after me, and I might ask him to bring her out to you after I leave, because I have several cages of baby rats to distribute before I go, too.
