slight guilt
Feb. 11th, 2007 01:44 pmI'd promised my coworkers/bosses that I would not do any jumping until after the safety review was over. And yet in the glow of riding, I went ahead and did it anyway. And fell off, because I really wasn't ready.** And could have been hurt very badly, although this was almost the perfect fall for not getting hurt, because:
Oh well. Today I am really sore, but I'm starting to wonder if I actually have caught some virus, given how my blood sugars have been bouncing around. So I am just going to try to stay warm and get some work done.
Oh, on the work thing, don't expect to see me socially for the next two and half weeks. I'm riding on Fridays and doing tai chi on Wednesday evenings, but only to keep some amount of sanity.
**The video was painful to watch. The last frame shows me ass up and splayed all over poor Minnie about a second before I came off. But it would have been much more painful to watch if the entire fall had been filmed. I was clearly nervous and not working terribly well with Minnie except when we were walking.
- I'd already lost my stirrups, so I wouldn't have been dragged if Minnie had freaked.
- Minnie, in fact, did not freak; instead she stopped, far enough away that she couldn't have stepped on me.
- I went off Minnie's side rather than over her head.
- The surface I landed on was soft rubber chips, several inches deep.
- I landed on the most cushy and shock absorbing parts of me, and I did not land on any crucial parts of my anatomy, like, say, my head.
- I was not doing anything insanely dangerous.
