The rats are... better, but not 100% OK. Just tonight I discovered one of the young males has become very skinny. I think his cagemates are picking on him, or he might be sick. But if I move him out, I won't be able to put him back with them... and if he's sick I don't want to try him with the male babies (who need to be pulled from mama and sisters this week... we don't need any unintended pregnancies, and the little guys have BALLS!)

The most difficult thing about the rat "business" (such as it is, I make absolutely no money at it) is turning people away. Even while shut down I was getting several inquiries a week. I have never developed a really organized way of dealing with the rat email and requests, and thus tend to avoid it. Not good.

Ursa is not going to be with us much longer... the tumor on her face is starting to interfere with her breathing. I may well ask Ben to take her on a one-way trip to the vet tomorrow (I would not be able to do it until Thursday, which is too long to wait.) But she's had a good long life and was over 2 1/2 when she first had symptoms. And I have Ursa Minor, her great-great-granddaughter, to keep.

I have bred, or attempted to breed, two females to one of my males, but there hasn't been good "chemistry." The timing of desires has been mismatched... so I have no idea if this will result in babies or not. (The one time I saw the male successfully mount and mate with one of the girls, he fell off afterwards!)
