the garden today
Jun. 5th, 2006 07:52 pmI spent 1 1/2 hours weeding this morning, and have a rather impressive pile of dead plants to show for it.
If the weather is favorable, I am going to be inundated with berries, not in time for the party, but a little later in the summer it should be All Berries All The Time around here.
Tomatoes... well, some critter ate the ends off all the branches on one of them. Tonight, within about 2 minutes, I saw a baby bunny, a ruby-throated hummingbird, and a groundhog. My guess is that the bunny did it, and that planter (which is lower than the whiskey barrels) now has a fence around it. One of the plants also is not happy; it may have some kind of wilt. It's the Sweet Million, which is supposed to be one of the more disease-resistant varieties. Sigh.
