it's been a good weekend. I had much-needed solitary time on Friday evening, when [livejournal.com profile] deguspice was off helping run the last-minute Arisia party at Boskone. Saturday was mostly lazy, until we went off to a white trash-theme party at the house of [livejournal.com profile] tamidon and [livejournal.com profile] feste_sylvain. Lots of good and very high-calorie food. Deep-fried turkey. Velveeeta cheese fudge. Oreo cookies layered with whip cream, and so forth. The one thing missing was a "mock apple pie" made with Ritz crackers. I managed to deal with it all by having mostly small portions and skipping all the seriously treyf stuff. The company was good also; I talked w/a lot of people, had only a small anxious stretch of time, collected hugs from [livejournal.com profile] jbsegal and [livejournal.com profile] roozle, among others, and got home early enough to get a good night's sleep.

Sunday, we had [livejournal.com profile] whuffle and [livejournal.com profile] halleyscomet over for dinner and conversation, which was fun. I cooked, reasonably competently, although as usual, dessert was my forte. (Strange for a diabetic, but oh well.) I made honey cake with a cheese "swirl"; it was supposed to be a cheese topping, but it didn't cooperate with staying on top of the cake batter, so I ran a knife through it. [livejournal.com profile] halleyscomet stole a third piece when they were leaving, hee. After they left, we stayed up late, and I *was* going to be writing, but ended up in a fairly long IRC chat with [livejournal.com profile] cintyber instead. That was interesting, hm.

And today has been spent mostly relaxing (ahem) with [livejournal.com profile] deguspice, and I have tai chi class in a few hours, and then tomorrow it's right back to the usual routine, sigh.
