I've been knitting more than quilting lately, but this week I've been at the Quilter's Gathering in Nashua, NH. I helped hang the show yesterday, which meant I got to TOUCH the quilts... lift them, unfold them, hang them up, etc. These are quilts done by the real pros, and people who ought to be. They included a bed-size "cross-stitch style" quilt with 50,000 (yes, FIFTY thousand) 1/2 inch squares -- which weighed about 30 pounds and took 6 people to hang. And I helped hang most of the prize-winning quilts, including making suggestions about how to order them to show them off best.
I'm taking a Trip Around the World class on Saturday. I am experienced enough to not really need a class for TaW, but working for 6 hours with an instructor and classmates always helps me get a jumpstart on a project. This one will be for my brother and his fiancee, who are getting married June 24. I selected the colors based on my brother's incredible green-gray eyes.
