So, I have a rat named Silly Sister who has had a hard time staying pregnant. She's reabsorbed 3 times, and had a live litter (of 16!) in May. Most recently, I thought she'd reabsorbed again... she went from reasonably round to flattish (though fat), and stopped gaining weight. She didn't come back into heat, but she just wasn't acting like a pregnant rat -- not even nesting.

Well, I was wrong. I got home and found that she'd had 8 tiny babies. One was dead, and two others don't look so good, but 2 of the others have white milk tummies, and mama's built them a good nest. She's still in with her 3 cagemates, but they aren't bothering her so I don't want to risk moving her to her own cage.
