I'm over at deguspice's parents' house right now for Rosh Hashanah. His mom has a couple of old dollhouses, and I was very amused to find that the dollhouses are as cluttered as the real house is!

huh. upon seeing my extremely cluttered dollhouse, klingonlandlady said something to the effect that clearly I had transferred all the clutteredness that I couldn't tolerate in my real house to the pretend one instead.

she clearly hasn't seen the state of the study recently.

um, no. Your dollhouse is so nice and neat compared to Ben's mom's. One looks in the window (of hers) and sees knocked over furniture and dollhouse items piled in messy stacks, dollhouse people in odd positions on the floor or sitting on non-chair furniture while the chairs are stacked with dollhouse books, and curtains askew. Ben did point out that it's possible that his nieces have been getting into the dollhouse and messing things up. But I still wonder.

I was thinking earlier today that I must not ever let my father see Ben's parents' house. If he assumes that clutter is genetic, he'll assume that _our_ house will look that way after we've lived here for 30+ years. OTOH, anyone who wants a fascinating look at lots of old toys and other odd collectibles and semi-collectibles would love the place.
